Screen is flickering after over heating and has a broken back

So my brothers phone has a broken back but the screen is rather unscathed and only has a little crack at the top that was there when my dad gave it to him except when we try to turn it on since the back broke and he said over the holidays it over heated and now it started to flicker and then black and i cant get it to show any signs of life
