Panasonic base unit does not light up when plugged in

Had to get a new home phone connect box that will support 4G/5G. When connecting it to the base unit, all info disappeared and the base unit will not turn on when plugged in. The handsets can still be fully charged. The cordless phone is a Panasonic KX-TG2632. The error message is “ No link to bas. Move closer to base, try again.” Have tried all trouble-shooting suggestions to no avail. What might be the problem?
