I don't think anyone has an answer to this problem the Sabent 1TB drive that I was using was a real energy hog so I stopped using it and went back the the original 256 GB drive. I think these laptops are too old now to upgrade or waste anytime figuring out the problems. It's time to upgrade to a new Mac unfortunately. Good luck.
