Vaio SVE15126CVP sudden screen corruption and failure to boot

Our venerable Sony Vaio, which was working fine last night, is now showing screen corruption as soon as it’s switched on and then failing to boot into Windows.
I’m guessing this is a hardware failure, most likely something on the logic board, and that it’s probably not worth repairing given the age of the laptop?[br]
