I have this problem on my 2016 Macbook Pro but I don’t think it is related to FlexGate for two reasons:

# It has pretty much been a desktop its whole life, closed maybe 10 times. I have a second 2016 Macbook Pro that I use for travel.
# It hasn’t and currently doesn’t show any of the FlexGate symptoms such as backlight on when barely opened or stage lights.

Is there another suspect component that could cause this failure, perhaps user serviceable?
