I just went through this with a 360 I bought off of Facebook market place. When you removed the gpu heatsink did you check the chip for burn in marks on it? That's usually what RRods them. The cooling solution sucks on the 360.The one I have now(Jasper 2009 model) just got serviced and one fan gets hotter than the other(GPU) side but doesn't look to be overheating after upgrading to corsair xtm50 thermal paste.Check the GPU die for burn in as its likely the cause and it took the board with it.If it did you'd be better off buying a different 360 and not repairing that one due to cost.

Also being that it's cost prohibitive to get it serviced you'd be better off getting another one.It will cost way more to repair than it's worth unless it's a Jasper. Those things live forever!
