I had same issue. for me the issue was one of the wires on my earbuds (the one that had a mic and control buttons) was cracked and fraying .  I figured that it was shorting out sending false control signals to the phone.

I know this could cause more problems, but they were cheap, very thin gauge wires soo I just clipped that whole line off and tested it - issue resolved.  [br]

To keep it fixed till I could get a new set of buds I made sure to separate the wires a bit more and insulate each with elec. tape.
