Check if it is a USB power setting problem.

View the ''Chosen Solution'' in [post|663744|this] link, to see how to check if the power may have been disconnected from the port.

If that appears to be OK use a strong light and a magnifying glass to visually inspect the USB port for any damage.

If it appears to be damaged you may have it replace the port. Fortunately in your laptop it is mounted on a removable module card so this will be easy to do.
