I know this is an old thread, but maybe it will help someone somewhere since these laptops can still have a kick if you update to SSD and the memory. I have this laptop and did a new HDD (SSD) install and upgrade the memory to 8 GB up from the 4 GB + onboard 2 GB to 8 GB total. This laptop can supposedly handle up to 12 GB

Either I bought an incompatible RAM module or my module was bad ( bought DDR3, 12800 speed which is what the 2 GB stick was out of the factory, so I don't know)- but the fault was definitely the RAM. I was getting the same lights you were getting. I popped the old stick of 2 GB back in and it booted fine.
