Is there an easier way to disable the smoke sensor?

I am looking to install a Nest Protect in my kitchen to use as a Heat/CO sensor and would like to know if there is an easier way to disable its smoke sensor without much hassle?
A new Scottish regulation requires all Smoke detectors and Heat sensors in the house to be interlinked. Given that Nest has no specific product to use as a Heat alarm in the kitchen, I am thinking of installing a Nest protect in the kitchen after disabling its smoke sensor instead of replacing my 4 other Nest Protects with offline ones.
I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you
