I decided to replace the battery of my MacBook because of poor performance. I followed the steps in the guide, everything seemed well-executed, but when I assembled everything again my MacBook most of the time didn't turn on (with or without the power). It only did after I insisted several times (with the power charger connected), but:
* The system didn't detect the battery at all
* OS X menu bar showed an “X” on the battery symbol
* coconutBattery tool could not show any info on the battery
I tried to reset SMC and PRAM: I needed many attempts to start my MacBook again after those operations, but when it finally turned on, the situation didn't change. I also tried to keep it charging for some hours, but nothing happened, and when I unplugged the power the MacBook died.
I tried to check the battery installation, disconnecting and reconnecting contacts and data cable, but no results.
At that point, I decided to try to remove the new battery and reinstall the old one: my MacBook immediately started to work again, so I concluded that the new battery was defective. The customer service agreed to send a new battery.
Now I installed the second battery, but it is exactly like the first one: my MacBook doesn't turn on at all. After reinstalling the original battery everything worked again.
My question is: what am I doing wrong? Is it possible that I received two defective batteries? The MacBook is fine because the old battery works! Is there anything I am missing? I want to be sure I did everything correctly before giving up.
'''UPDATE 2021-02-13 (1)'''
I could turn on my MacBook with the second battery after 1 hour of attempts. I post here some screenshots:

You can see the first battery listed is the first one I bought, the second one is the original battery, the third one is the new battery Customer Service sent me to replace the first one.
I tried to reset the SMC ([guide|113252]): of course the macbook didn’t turn on again immediately, it took another 30 minutes of attempts, but when I succeeded the situation didn’t change.[br]

I tried again to reset SMC and PRAM with no results. I installed again the old battery and it works.
