I am receiving a “no signal” message

I am trying to hook up my new Epson 4K projector into my pioneer VSX-822 receiver and I get the message “no signal” in my HDMI 1.   No clue why.  Researched online didn’t get some much which is making me think the HDMI connection isn’t working.  Really hoping I didn’t have to buy a new receiver.  It’s 8 years old.  [br]
