Can't get Gameboy to turn on?

I have cleaned the terminals, opened and cleaned the power switch (essentially cleaned the whole thing inside and out) and tested the fuses and i still can't get it to turn on. When you switch the power on the red light comes on for a second and then goes off. Any ideas?
