Use something like this guide [guide|5825] It was written for an iPhone but all the points still apply to your shuffle as well. You will need to use a high grade of isopropyl alcohol so it cleans and evaporates properly without leaving conductive matter behind. Once it is properly cleaned, you must replace the battery. There is no way around it. It will give you issues if you do not.
