Exposed battery wire: okay to use electrical tape?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

'''Problem:''' I replaced the OEM battery with a generic one from iFixit. Its individually wrapped “rainbow” wires weren’t shaped like the OEM battery’s were, preventing them from laying flat. They obstructed a case screw. I didn’t realize this until I looked to see why the screw wasn’t going in, and then saw the slightly frayed cable.

'''Question:''' Is wrapping each exposed wire of the battery cable with electrical tape okay? Aside from the added bulk in a tight space.

Thanks!
