Just started having this issue; yes you can guide the puncture needle forward a bit but he ‘catch’ is a metal part / tube on left that has to protude through the 2 part assembly where the cup sits. But the problem 0 is that raising the handler now extends too far, do it slowly and you’ll hear a click. It appears this extra travel puts the alignment off requiring these workarounds. If I could figure out what wore off - if you do pics please, but I plan to call them anyway.
