On p.16 of the manual there is a ''LCD Panel test mode'' procedure that may be worth checking to see if it is a panel problem or an A board problem.
Also you said that the screen gets darker so maybe there is a backlight problem as well. Check for +24V on pins 7, 8 & 9 of P4 connector on the P board, as these are the 3 power supplies for the LED backlights. See schematic on p.30 of the service manual.
Hopefully a start.
