2DS XL wasn't turning on, now is but upper screen is not working

My 2ds xl underwent a similar issue as described in the “2DS XL not turning on” question but is now turning on. However, when turned on the upper screen is now displaying a mess of pixels which has me thinking that there’s a connection issue between the upper screen and the main body of the console. Is this likely to have a similar cause to the issues in the “2DS XL not turning on” question (ie ribbon cable pins misaligned) or is there another issue this might be caused by?
