Electronic cleaner on my iris scanner / front camera damaged them?

So my front camera had a smudge on it and I decided to spray electronic cleaner on that and the iris scanner. Now when I open the camera app I get “you cannot use more than one application that uses the camera”. I’m ordering a new iris scanner & front camera, but why would electronic cleaner damage it? I thought it was safe on electronic parts like this.
