The screen suddenly kinda blacked out with very low backlight

suddenly the screen had almost no backlight , so i tried couple of key combinations to see if it works but it didnt . after 2 months when i connected the charger it got switched on with no data loss , i used it for 8 hrs and then again the backlight of the display was gone . i tried disconnecting and reconnecting the display cable but it didnt work . BTW my hinges are a bit loose, can that be a problem as there is connection to the display from here. i am really frustrated as the display is totally alright and the backlight goes off and i cant figure out what it is . please help
