MagSafe 2 port replacement issues

I’m trying to replace the MagSafe 2 port. I’m ready to reassemble but neither the new or old port will stay connected to the i/o board. They just sit loosely on the connector. Am I doing this wrong? The connector doesn’t appear damaged on the board
