Will it boot with the trackpad disconnected?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

The trackpad went wonky. It won’t click and it moves the cursor with a lot of “effort” if you will. I’ve also found that if I plug in a mouse after it’s booted, that mouse won’t “click” either. But if I plug the mouse in before booting, the machine appears to ignore the trackpad and the mouse works fine. That is, until I touch the trackpad and wake it up. Then I’m stuck again. So, rather than replace the battery & trackpad in this aging machine, I’d like to just disconnect the trackpad altogether and use an external mouse. But will it run correctly this way?
