I have on thought...Have you tried replacing the motor? If I remember correctly any van with electric doors that I've been around will stop if they meet some sort of obstruction. I THINK they know they're bumping against something because the door motor experiences a spike in current draw. If the door motor is old and/or worn, it may be drawing more current than normal and triggering the safety circuitry.
