This is my SECOND iMac with the same issue as before; intermittently shuts off. I had taken it to the store 29 days before it was out of warranty (driving 2.5 hours to the nearest store and picking it up 2 weeks later for a total of 10 hours drive time). They said the issue was resolved. Once I got home, I realized this wasn’t the case. Via Apple support, I have done a full erase and reinstall. Seemed to do the trick… until 2 hours later when it shut down again.  [br]

Apple support’s solution is to once again drive it to my nearest Apple store and pay for out-of-warranty repair. [br]

My entire family will be switching to Windows-based products when it comes time to purchase new devices.
