I have a similar issue with a Nikon Coolpix AW100 - black screen with icons showing. The screen does show menu functions and previous pix/video but not live video or new pix. Flash works too. This happened while taking pics. 3 good ones then boom, black screen. Almost like I hit some strange button combination.
The camera has been great before this. Really hoping someone has a fix / hack for this.
