If the above recently (this year) published info is to be believed then no it is not supported but supposedly is planned. I got the same story for my ancient HP pavilion chromebook butterfly when Google first started rolling this functionality out a number of years ago.  It never happened of course and I wound up converting it to a full linux system. Not trying to rain on your parade but don’t hold your breath. After google sunsetted my chromebook butterfly I decided to go linux and it works fine for most purposes.
