Mac won’t turn on after screen replacement

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

I was fixing a friend’s MacBook Pro 13” 2017 with TouchBar. I’ve worked on Macs and iPhones hundreds of times. I opened up the bottom cover and undid the pancakes screw to disconnect the battery and bent the flex cable back a bit to make sure it doesn’t contact the battery during repair. I went ahead and replaced the screen and then replaced the battery connector and screw. [br]

After, I tried turning on the MacBook and I got nothing. No backlight on keyboard, no chime when I plug in power adapter, and no response from trackpad. [br]

I went ahead and did the SMC reset and PRAM reset, but I got nothing. I then went back and replaced the new screen with the old one thinking the new one was defective or shorting out somewhere. [br]

Nothing with the old screen either. So I put the new screen back on. I did some trouble shooting and found out if I leave the battery connector disconnected, the MacBook powers on with the power adapter plugged in. when I connect the battery back to the motherboard, it doesn’t power on even with the power adapter plugged in. [br]

I think it’s safe to say it’s the battery or battery connector to the motherboard. Not sure if that connector piece is replaceable or not. [br]

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
