Same situation - on 2 different macs and this is what I did. Worked flawlessly. Hold down control option and shift on left side of keyboard for 10 seconds - while still pressing them press power button and hold all keys for 10 more seconds. Let them go then hold power button down for 10 seconds. White pole logo pops up with loading bar. And viola!
