Try adjusting the angle your PS3 is seated at. This kept mine on for about 20 more seconds. However, this was a ''pixel-perfect'' angle, down to the degree. This may give you enough time to fix the PS3. I ran out of luck after it powered down, though, and it seems like this can only happen on occasion.
