Windows upgrade repeatedly appearing on screen

I keep receiving a note telling me that windows needs updating and will do so in so many minutes. I have done the updating countless times (mainly to stop the notice coming up repeatedly) but then a couple of days later, back it’s there again. It is ''sooo'' damned annoying. How can I stop it please?
