@beemom take a look on here [guide|102144] and see if yours opens up in a similar manner. If so that would be the way to get to the board and the connector. Problem will be to find a replacement. “Apple Lightning connector” are available at places like Alibaba.com and other but due to their size etc. some good soldering skills will be required. We would need to see more of the board and how the connector is attached. You may also consider using a connector from a lightning cable or even create cable connection instead of a direct connection. FLIR does not repair their devices if they are not covered under warranty. They will only replace.
