-'''Never use a blow dryer to remove frost/ice inside the unit.''' Samsung has had a lot of issues with that ice maker design. I thought they had finally resolved the issue in court last year by redesigning the ice room and components in it. Apparently not. I have had several new whirlpools that have iced up as well.

I’ve found serveral reasons for the I/M to freeze.
The fan behind the I/M fails. The fan circulates the cold air over the i/M to freeze the ice. If the fan has quit, the ice will harvest without being frozen. It dumps the water and ice into the bin. Some ice remains in tray causing it to overfill. This frozen mess causes a mess.
2- I/M gears are worn due to water deposits
3- Water fill valve sticking causing an overfill.
4-the most common reason I’ve seen is the I/M arm on the side of I/M. The metal arm you move up to turn off I/m and down to turn it on. There is a white piece if plastic attaches to this are. It gets stuck on the side of I\M and causes issues. I shorten it by cutting off enough so it won’t get hung up on anything. Still working just fine today.
