As this is one of the top results when searching, I wanted to provide an update based on my research. [br]

I have a 24” Late 2006 iMac with a failed GPU. I bought a 256MB GT 7600 from eBay and swapped it out using the iFixit guides. [br]

The iMac now works great!! [br]

I do not think a newer GPU could work
