Is a charging port replacement possible without microsoldering?

Hi, my tablet started stopped charging a while back so I replaced the battery. It turned on fine with the charge that was in the battery when it came, but then refused to charge again. So now after cleaning the port out without success I’m wondering if I need to buy a new charging port, and if the repair is possible without microsoldering. After some testing I discovered my charger is defective, and so obviously I tried a different charger (not an official one, just a micro USB cord plugged into a phone adapter) and I got the charging symbol but the battery level wouldn’t increase. Should I try a different charger before I get a port? I don’t know, but if you could help me out I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
