Won't connect to JBL app / Auto power off not functioning

I have a Charge 4 and now a Flip 4, and have never been able to successfully connect either one of them to the JBL Connect app. Any suggestions?
Also, I listen to an hour long playlist on the Flip 4 at bedtime, and in the morning it has not powered off automatically. Any suggestions for that? Thanks....
