Based on your question I believe the screen replacement will fix your phone completely. Because of how the phone is constructed, I highly recommend you get the replacement charging port flex cable with your replacement screen. The light keys on either side of the home button are attached to this charging port and are easily damaged during the screen replacement process. It is also a good time to replace the charging port as it is a very difficult repair if you are not replacing the screen (preventative maintenance).
