Replacement Failure RT and LT buttons activated by shoulder bumpers

I just replaced the shoulder bumpers on my Elite One controller. I put everything back together and lo and behold when I push the RB or LB buttons it activates the RT and LT buttons. What did I do wrong? The instructions seemed pretty straightforward but obviously I didn’t do something right! Any help is appreciated. Thanks
