What can I do against ghost clicks and swipes?

After working just fine for a while my preowned Trackpad began to behave strangely lately. I can only describe the problem as ghost clicks and swipes, it clicks and swipes without any input. Is there a way to fix it, or should I just get another? Thanks for your help.
