SSD adapter to recover water damage MacBook Air

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hi All

Today I was given the challenge of sorting out a friends MacBook Air that was left out overnight. Screen damaged, water damaged and I think my friend my have tried to power it on!

I have left the laptop drying out but want to take the SSD out and see if I can recover the data.

I was hoping it would be easy to open up the MacBook and put the SSD into an enclosure but looking on Amazon.co.uk the enclosures for 2014 Macs are really [https://www.amazon.co.uk/QNINE-External-Enclosure-Macbook-A1465/dp/B076KDPZMM/ref=sr_1_34?keywords=A1465+SSD+Hard+Drive+Adapter&qid=1561476274&s=gateway&sr=8-34|expensive] and I don’t even know if the SSD is working anymore.

So I’m trying to find a cheaper alternative. I have seen a [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NVL42BX/?coliid=I2UODJL3Z1JL6&colid=SLA8MNLE418H&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it|QNINE PCIe SSD to M.2 Key M Adapter Card] on Amazon.co.uk. Could I then buy a [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FCL1YQP/?coliid=IKTZFD1VO29YP&colid=SLA8MNLE418H&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it|M.2 SSD to USB 3.0 Adapter] and plug that into another Mac to recover the data.

Thanks
