The invisible dog fence alarm is delayed. Is it broken?

I have an invisible underground fence for my dogs. The alarm is supposed to sound when the line is broken. I came home one day and the alarm was on. I unplugged the system and plugged it back in and no alarm…. but then with in about 5 minutes the alarm went off again. I tried again, unplugged it, plugged it back in, and no alarm for about 20 minutes. Why would there be a delay? Maybe I don’t have a broken line and I have a broken main hub. Anyone have a theory on why there would be a delay in the alarm like this??? Thanks in advance!
