Best Product to reattach the Surface Book track pad?

The track pad on my Surface Book 1 became loose then just fell off the keyboard. Currently I have it taped down with painters tape and it works fine. Under the track pad in the upper corners are two white pads where I believe it was attached. What is the proper adhesive to use to repair this? My concern with double sided tape would be the thickness of that tape as I would not want the track pad to sit higher along the top edge. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
