Replacment Charge port Charging With no indication

Replaced the Battery and Charge port for my Moms Hudl 2, She loves the thing id replace it if i could , the charge port i fitted IS charging BUT there no red charging light and even no Charging icon in android, Did i get a Duff port r is it a software issue????
