Do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is only 70% IPA or less, can contain scents and is not as effective. If you do use it, check the label to verify the amount of IPA.

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted PCBs be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board.
Hopefully after you have done all this the laptop ''might'' possibly work correctly again.

On p.73 item #3 you’ll find the part numbers (FRU No.) for the touchpads that are available for the various laptop model variants. If your touchpad has failed and needs to be replaced search online using the appropriate part number ''only'' in the search box of your browser to find suppliers of the part. The part number is usually stamped somewhere on the part itself if you wish to verify that you are using the correct one in your search.
