Not sure if anyone else is still having this problem, but I (as a beginner that had never done anything like this) followed the solution above and was able to repair my Mac with complete success! Only recommendations I would have is to use a hairdryer instead of a heat gun (so it doesn’t warp your screen) and uno cards seemed to work for me to get it off!
