I am fixing my daughters Macbook Pro Retina 15” A1494 Late 2013/Mid 2014-
I removed the battery OK but there is this one screw that I cannot unscrew.. I tried first with the Pentalobe that I used to open the case. It’s too small. I tried with a Torx T6. It doesn’t fit completely right.
It must be a Pentalobe as well.. right? But bigger than the one used to open up the chassis.

(The reason I want to remove the touchpad / trackpad is to clean it. It has soda in it it..)

Ahaa! I didn’t actually need to remove the screw. I could just removed the metal plate (don’t bend it), it’s not held down by the screw. Only glue. I pried it off gently from the sides with a bit of acetone to loosen the glue.

It’s a Torx T6. Mine was a little stuck, needed some WD40 to loosen up.

Also, my Torx T6 bit had a little pointy edge.. which I filed down. This made it fit better.

Note, you should/can not wind this screw very much..
