-Problem solved folks. I use a hidden network and don’t have SSID broadcast turned on. Apparently the Alexa app cannot connect to hidden networks. You have to broadcast the SSID during setup, then you can go ahead and hide it again afterwards. No idea if it will reconnect after losing connectivity though.

You have to broadcast the SSID during setup, and can hide it again once you’re connected. However, if your connection drops for any reason, the Echo will no longer be able to connect.
