Why won’t my UK SNES power on after cleaning dust from pin connectors

I have two uk SNES models, both working but black screens. After reviewing YouTube clips suggestion was to check and clean the pin connectors which I did with a soft toothbrush. Upon closing the console up neither now power up. Any suggestions on cause given I haven’t touched any of the circuitry on rest of the motherboard?
