Can ethernet port be damage by defect rj45 cable ?

Tried new selvmade rj45 cable with no success and ethernet port thereafter not working any rj45 cables (which I now is ok).

Have tried Reset NVRAM and disconnect and shutdown scenarios - no success.

Can run wifi but need the better LAN bandwidth, not any way resolved my LAN port ?
