Can a crumbled drive in the base of my liquidiser be mended?

The plastic around the central piece in the base of my liquidizer has crumbled leaving only - detached - the central hard plastic piece with the cruciform hole for the drive pinion. Might a repair be possible? (Araldite comes to mind but would need to be very well arranged to work.)
