You could try starting the laptop in “safe mode” and see how it works, just in case it is an unrelated driver problem. (search online for “how to start your -''insert your particular OS'' - in safe mode” if you don’t know how)

If it still fails when in safe mode but it works OK when on the charger but not when it’s on the battery only, then I’d suspect that the battery is not able to supply the necessary power and the laptop is scaling back on what needs to be kept powered on.
I’d start by replacing the battery and then see what happens. Even rechargeable batteries have a lifespan.

Replacement batteries are available online. Just search for ''ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LA battery'' to get results for suppliers.
